For over 25 years, Antonio and Vinnie have been tailoring their hairdressing skills to each and every client. Their salon, Antonio Giovanni, is a great reflection of their passion. It’s not hard to see that they have a genuine love for what they do.
As part of our #LOVEIndependent campaign, we caught up with them inbetween appointments to see how important supporting independents is to them.
Hello, Antonio! When did you start your business?
We have been around since 1990.
And how would you describe what you do to a first time customer?
We are a forward thinking salon group, based in Ipswich. We cater for fashionable people and are always developing our skills and learning the latest techniques.
What made you decide to go into hairdressing?
I started in my father’s salon on Norwich Road (just up the road from Coes actually!). I worked Saturdays there and never wanted to do anything else.
What is it about your town that makes it the perfect place for Antonio Giovanni?
Having grown up in Ipswich, and despite a brief spell in Italy, it makes sense to work in a town where we have history and a following.
Why do you believe is it important for our towns that we try to shop independent where possible?
With the rise of online shopping, shopping independent helps to maintain local jobs as the money goes directly into the community.
Your customers come back time and time again. Why do you think this is?
We offer a high-end quality service with a personal, friendly approach. We’ve also finished in the British hair awards which was an amazing achievement for us! We are constantly sharpening our skills and looking out for new trends.
What local event or development are you most looking forward to?
There’s so much to look forward to: The Maritime Festival, Music in the Park, Ed Sheeran Concert… We also hope that many more incentives and developments, like the new Cornhill, are going to happen in the very near future!
