Autumn Winter 26 Trend Predictions - Pitti Uomo Day 1

Pitti Uomo Day 1

Reflections from Karl and William | Florence, January 2026

Day 1 at Pitti Uomo marks the beginning of the menswear season for our buyers, Karl and William. Held at Florence's historic Fortezza da Basso, this globally celebrated trade show provides an exclusive preview of the trends shaping Autumn/Winter 2026.
This year’s theme is "Motion," a nod to the constant evolution of style. For us, it’s about "The Art of the Search": finding those hero pieces that will eventually anchor your winter wardrobe.

Karl’s Autumn/Winter 2026 Predictions

Day one is complete. Here are Karl’s early autumn/winter predictions from Pitti Uomo.
  1. The Suede Shacket
The “smart-casual” trend is evolving toward a more relaxed and textured look. Suede and faux-suede shackets (shirt-jackets) are set to become extremely popular. We have seen some beautifully structured overshirts that provide the perfect balance between a shirt and a jacket.
  2. The Return of the Gilet
The gilet has moved from the background to the forefront of fashion. For 2026, keep an eye out for knitted gilets. They are the ultimate layering tool, ideal for pairing with a fine-knit jumper or wearing under a heavy overcoat for added warmth without the bulk.
  3. The Colour of the Season: Chocolate Brown
Move over, navy and grey. While we have seen various earth tones recently, dark, rich chocolate brown is the definitive neutral for Autumn/Winter 2026. It adds sophistication and versatility to any wardrobe.

Three Pillars of Buying: William’s Day 1 Takeaways

1. The Product: Tactile Selection

There is no substitute for experiencing products in person. Observing how a fabric drapes and feeling the weight of a wool blend enables us to curate a collection that is not only beautiful but also functional. We purchase with you in mind, considering how each piece will fit into your existing wardrobe.

2. The Presentation: Storytelling in the Stands

The way brands showcase their collections provides a blueprint for our own styling. We analyse the “visual stories” presented in Florence and interpret them to bring fresh and wearable inspiration back to our shop floor.

3. The People: Honest Insights

The most valuable aspect of the day is conversations with global suppliers and fellow retailers, which equip us with the confidence to make bold decisions. These honest discussions about customer behaviour ensure that our 2026 collection stays ahead of the curve.

Stay tuned for more updates from Florence as we continue our search for the best of AW26.
