For little bookworms, Matilda’s Splendid Spelling Games make a lovely way to encourage a love of letters and word building. Designed with Key Stage 1 and 2 learning in mind, the set brings together three card games in one, all starring one of Roald Dahl’s best-loved characters, so children can practise spelling while enjoying the fun of a proper card game.
In The Bookworm Game, players race to collect ten bookworm cards by making words from their hand, with longer words winning more. Matilda’s Word Grid Game lays sixteen letter cards in a four-by-four grid and challenges players to write down as many words as they can in a minute. In Matilda’s Wordstack Game, players add letters to a shared stack to build ever longer words, with bonus points for stacking a letter on top of another.
